Creating WeChat Submenu Items

This article shows you how to create a WeChat submenu.

A WeChat menu can have up to 3 main menu tabs. Each main menu tab can have up to 5 submenu items. In total, you could have 15 submenu items. A complex menu structure like that requires a significant amount of content and management. Most of our clients have an average of 3 items per submenu.

1  Opening the WeChat Menu page

On the top menu, click PUBLISH > WeChat Content > Settings > Menu.

2  Creating a submenu item

1. Hover the mouse pointer on a main menu tab. The menu line turns green and a toolbar displays.
2. Click the plus (+) sign to add a submenu item. The Add Menu Item panel displays.
3. Enter an English name (up to eight characters).
4. Click the translator icon to insert a language based on locale. 
5. Do not click Done.
6. Go to Step 3.

3  Adding content to a submenu item

Next, add content to the submenu item. There are two options: link or message.

Link Option

You can place a link inside a submenu item. The link sends followers to a webpage or WeChat article. To attach a link to a submenu item:

1. Click Link.
2. Enter the URL with the full http:// or https:// prefix.
3. Click Done. 
4. Click Save at the top of the page.

Message Option

To place digital assets inside a submenu item:

1. Select the Message tab.
2. Select Text, Image, or Rich Post, and then insert the assets.
3. Click Done to save.
4. Click Save at the top of the Menu page.

4  Previewing the submenu

Hover the mouse pointer on the mock smartphone's main menu tab to see the submenu.
