Each drag and drop component in the WeChat editor workspace has a different set of tools. These tools are inside the Properties panel. Generally, there are two types of tools:
- customise component appearance (e.g. padding, margins, background colour, borders)
- add content and functionality
This article shows you how to use the Properties panel to add content and functionality to a component. Currently, it is not possible to place a link inside a rich post or WeChat article.

1 Locating the component properties panel
To open a component properties panel:
- Go to the WeChat editor workspace.
- Click a component on the content page in the WeChat Editor workspace. The Properties panel opens on the right side of the screen.
- Under Layout, select the element you want to customise (e.g container, shape, text).
- Under Properties, select the Properties settings you want to customise by clicking a tab (e.g. line height, padding, and margins).
- Adjust settings, as required.
2 Inserting an image into a WeChat article
Many components have a default image. You can add your own image to a component.
- Select a component and drag it to the content page.
- Click the component. The Properties panel displays on the right side of the screen.
- Under Layout, click the Image element.
- Under Properties, click the Background tab and then select Image.
- To upload an image from your computer, click the Cloud button. You can also drag an image from your computer to the image box.
- To insert an image from the Assets page, click the Hand button.
- Select FILL if you want a single instance of the image to fill the entire post or article background.
- Select FIT if you want a small version of the image to display many times in the image background.

Instead of using the Upload tool, you can drag a picture:
- Locate a picture on your computer.
- Drag it to the image box.
3 Editing text in a WeChat article
You can edit the appearance and layout of text in a component.
- Double-click the component text you want to edit. An editing toolbar displays at the top of the screen.
- Highlight all of the text you want to change with the mouse pointer.
- Scroll to the top of the page and select an edit feature.
- To finish editing, click the white space outside the content page.
4 Adding video content to a WeChat article
It's not possible to upload a video file in a rich post or WeChat article. However, you can use a video component to insert a link to a video on the Tencent platform. Video content from other platforms cannot be used with this video component.
To place a video link on the content page:
- Select Video on the Components menu.
- Select a video component from the options.
- Drag a video component to the content page.
- Click the component one time. The Properties panel opens on the right side of the screen.
- Under Layout, click the Video element.
- Under Properties, click the Tencent Video Link tab.
- Enter the Tencent video URL, including the http:// or https:// prefix.

There are two property tabs: one for the component element and one for the video element.
Under the Component Properties tab, you can change:
- General (opacity)
- Background (fill with colour or an image)
- Padding
- Margin
- Border
Under the Component Properties tab, you can change:
- General (opacity)
- Tencent Video Link
- Margin
- Border
