Using the WeChat Component Properties Panel

Each drag and drop component in the WeChat editor workspace has a different set of tools. These tools are inside the Properties panel. Generally, there are two types of tools:

• customise component appearance (e.g. padding, margins, background colour, borders)
• add content and functionality

This article shows you how to use the Properties panel to add content and functionality to a component. Currently, it is not possible to place a link inside a rich post or WeChat article.

1  Locating the component properties panel

To open a component properties panel: 

Go to the WeChat editor workspace. Click a component on the content page in the WeChat Editor workspace. The Properties panel opens on the right side of the screen.

Click the Style tab and select the element you want to customise (e.g. opacity or colour).

Click the Layout tab to customise basis settings (e.g. line height, padding, and margins). Scroll down and click the Show Advanced link to configure border and corner settings.

2  Inserting an image into a WeChat article

Many components have a default image. You can add your own image to a component.

1. Select a component and drag it to the content page.
2. Click the component. The Properties panel displays on the right side of the screen.
3. Under Style, go to Background > Image.

To upload an image from your computer, click the Cloud button. You can also drag an image from your computer to the image box.

1. To insert an image from the Assets page, click the Hand button.
2. Select FILL if you want a single instance of the image to fill the entire post or article background.
3. Select FIT if you want a small version of the image to display many times in the image background.

Dragging an image

Instead of using the Upload tool, you can drag a picture:

1. Locate a picture on your computer.
2. Drag it to the image box.

3  Editing text in a WeChat article

You can edit the appearance and layout of text in a component.

1. Double-click the component text you want to edit. An editing toolbar displays in the side panel.
2. Highlight the text you want to change with the mouse pointer.
3. Select an edit feature.
4. To finish editing, click the white space outside the content page.

4  Adding video content to a WeChat article

It's not possible to upload a video file in a rich post or WeChat article. However, you can use a video component to insert a link to a video on the Tencent platform. Video content from other platforms cannot be used with this video component.

To place a video link on the content page:

1. Click the Video component icon.
2. Drag a video component to the content page.
3. Click the component one time. The Properties panel opens on the right side of the screen.
4. Click the Style tab.
5. Enter the Tencent video URL, including the http:// or https:// prefix.

Properties

There are two property tabs: one for the component element and one for the video element.

• Under the COMPONENT tab, you can configure Style (e.g. opacity and background) and Layout (e.g. padding) settings. 
• Under the VIDEO tab, you can configure Style (e.g. opacity and the link) and Layout (e.g. margin and border) settings.
