The top of the Data page contains five tool tabs. This article explains how to use these tools.
1 Using the filter tab
This is an important tool. It creates a custom view. For more information, see:
2 Using the sort tool
The Sort tool changes the display order of items in the data set. Unlike the Filter tool, it does not hide data.
The Sort tool is useful because the order of items in the data set is the order of items displayed in the Repeater template. For example, if the items in the data set are sorted by location in alphabetical order, the Repeater template page displays items in that same order.
- Click the Sort tab. A menu displays.
- Click Add Sort. The Add New Sort panel displays.
- Click the box below Field and select the column to sort data. In the image below, we selected Location.
- Click the box below Order and select an option. In the image below, we selected A to Z.
- Click OK. The items in the data set are sorted based on that criterion.
After creating a sort, a number appears in the Sort tab. It shows the number of active sorts. It's possible to sort a data set using more than one criterion.
2.1 Deleting a sort
You can delete a saved sort.
- Click the Sort tab. A menu displays.
- Click the trash bin next to the saved sort you want to delete.
- Click Yes in the confirmation popup box. The sort is removed.
2.2 Editing a sort
You can change the conditions in a saved sort.
- Click the Sort tab. A menu displays.
- Click the Edit pencil icon next to the saved sort you want to change. The Update Sort panel displays.
- Change the sort conditions and then click Update.
- The panel closes and the items in the data set are reordered.
3 Controlling visible fields
You can control which columns are visible. This tool hides columns but does not delete data.
- Click the Visible Fields tab. A menu lists the column names in the data set. A checkmark indicates the column is visible. The unchecked columns are not visible.
- To hide a column, click the column name and remove the checkmark. In the image below, we removed the checkmark next to Description.
- After editing the menu, click any empty space on the data set to close the menu.
4 Exporting a file
The Import/Export tab has two tools.
The Import tool allows you to place content in a data set by uploading an Excel spreadsheet. That feature is described in another article. For more information about importing, see:
Use the Export tool to download a data set to your computer as a CSV file.
- Click the Import/Export tab.
- Click Export as CSV. The data set file downloads to your computer.
5 Controlling the view
The View tool lets you save and reuse filtered display settings as a custom view. This is an important tool when creating templates. To learn how to create custom views, see:
