This article shows you how to analyse the performance of a single keyword. In this analysis, you can see:
- overall performance (e.g. rank, difficulty, and monthly searches)
- rank trend compared with competitors
- search engine results and page optimisation score
1 Locating keyword list
- Open the Keywords data page and then customise the time period and search engine settings.
- Scroll up to the top of the Keywords page. Three boxes summarize keyword tracking information.
- Click one of the boxes. A list of those keywords displays at the bottom of the page.
2 Selecting a keyword to analyse
With a list of keywords on display, click one keyword. The Keyword Analysis page displays.
The Keyword Analysis page has three sections:
- Overview
- Rank Performance
- Search Engine Results
Each section is explained below.
3 Understanding Overview data
Overview data is presented at the top of the Keyword Analysis page. The analysis of a single keyword has three boxes of summary data.
Current Rank
This figure is the current rank position of the selected keyword. The exact ranking is displayed for ranges between 1 and 30. Anything over 30 displays as 30+.
Difficulty
This box describes the relative competition for the selected keyword. Difficulty is measured as Low, Medium, or High.
Monthly Searches
The relative monthly searches for the selected keyword ranging from Low, Average, and High.
4 Understanding Rank Performance
Rank performance displays keyword activity with two different line graphs:
- competitors
- search engines
Competitors
Click the Competitors button. The chart shows the selected keyword's ranking over time against its competitors. The best competitive position is to be ranked #1.
- Hover the mouse pointer on the line graph to see detailed search ranking data for individual days.
- Click the Day button to change the x-axis unit of measurement; select days, weeks, or months.
Search Engines
Click the Search Engines button. The chart shows the selected keyword's ranking over time measured by different search engines.
- Click one or more search engine options at the bottom of the graph. The image below shows data for Baidu Mobile search engine data.
- Hover the mouse pointer on the graph to see detailed search ranking data for individual days.
- Click the Day button to change the x-axis unit of measurement; select days, weeks, or months.
5 Understanding Search Engine results
Search engine ranking results for a specific keyword display at the bottom of the page.
- Click the URL link to see the keyword on the Baidu Desktop search engine.
- Click Analyse to see the keyword's optimisation score on the Page Audit page. You can also see options to improve keyword optimisation.
