How can I enable SSL for my Chinese website hosted on Sinorbis?
To enable SSL on for your Chinese website hosted on the Sinorbis platform, please contact the team via support@sinorbis.com or lodge a ticket here.*
What SSL provider does Sinorbis use?
We use Global Certificate Authority Let’s Encrypt as our SSL provider. Let’s Encrypt is a non-profit organisation on a mission to create a more secure and privacy-respecting Web by promoting the widespread adoption of HTTPS.
Can I can install a custom SSL certificate?
Yes, we do offer a premium hosting option. However, due to Chinese internet regulation, this feature is only available for clients with an ICP filing. If this applies to you we can provide you with:
- A dedicated server in China with its own IP address
- The ability to install your preferred SSL certificate**
One-off set up fee: AU$3,500
Ongoing subscription cost: AU$250/month
*Please note that while we're happy to set SSL up for you, there are a couple of things you need to know upfront.
Right now, SSL is still an emerging technology in China and enabling it may impact the performance of your website depending on the ISP network, the user's device and the Great Chinese Firewall.
None of this is controlled by Sinorbis which is why we unfortunately cannot guarantee that your website will be available in China if you are using https protocol with international hosting. Websites hosted in China are not affected by this.
We will keep monitoring the adoption of SSL in China and will let you know if anything changes.

**The certificate will need to be purchased by the client and will be installed by the Sinorbis team
