Creating a Custom QR Code

This article shows you how to create a custom QR code.

A custom QR code is a unique label which you can attach to rich posts, WeChat articles, and auto response messages. You can also download a custom QR code and use it in print marketing material to track the effectiveness of your offline initiatives for acquiring new WeChat followers.

A custom QR code is different from your personal WeChat QR code. You can create and delete custom QR codes. The personal WeChat QR code cannot be changed or deleted because it is part for your account.

What is a QR code?

A Quick Response (QR) code is a machine-readable label usually made with a mix of black and white squares and lines. QR codes can be read by smartphone cameras.

Online or in print, a QR code can be used as a marketing tool. For example, when a potential customer scans your QR code, their smartphone can display web information such as contact details, product information, or news about special events. You can also use this information to measure customer engagement.

1  Locating the QR code panel

You can create a custom QR code on the Assets page.

1. On the Dashboard page, click WECHAT in the top-level menu. The WeChat Content page displays.
2. On the left side menu, click CONTENT. The folder opens.
3. Click Assets. The Assets page displays.
4. Scroll to the top of the screen and then click Add. A dropdown menu displays.
5. Select QR code from the menu. The Create QR Code panel displays.

2  Creating a custom QR code

1. In the Create QR Code panel, type a unique name.
2. Enter a unique tracking value (e.g. poster1, packaging).
3. Click the Create button.
4. Click Done. The QR code now appears in the Assets list.

3  Viewing custom QR codes

You can view a custom QR code from the Assets page.

1. Go to the Assets page. A list of images, rich posts, and QR codes displays.
2. Highlight a custom QR code with the mouse pointer. The toolbar displays.
3. Click View. The custom QR code displays in a new window.

4  Downloading custom QR codes

You can download a custom QR code from the Assets page.

1. Go to the Assets page.
2. Highlight a custom QR code with the mouse pointer. The toolbar displays.
3. Click View. The custom QR code displays in a new window.
4. Right-click the custom QR code and then select Save image as.
5. Save the custom QR code image to your computer.

5  Deleting custom QR codes

You can delete a custom QR code from the Assets page.

1. Go to the Assets page.
2. Highlight the custom QR code with the mouse pointer. The toolbar displays.
3. Click Delete.
4. Select YES in the confirmation panel.
