This article shows you how to view, create and manage funnels for a digital asset in Measure.
1 Manage funnels
The Manage funnels page is located under Goals & Funnels.
Funnels define a sequence of steps used to analyse how users move through a journey and where they leave before completing it.
Goals & Funnels > Manage funnels
2 Viewing configured funnels
The Configured funnels section displays the funnels currently set up for the selected digital asset.
The table displays:
- Funnel name – the name assigned to the funnel.
- Steps – the number of steps configured in the funnel.
- Entries – the number of users entering the funnel.
- Completions – the number of users who reached the final funnel step.
- Drop-off – the percentage of funnel entries that did not reach the final step.
- Actions – controls used to edit or delete the funnel.
Drop-off = (Entries – Completions) ÷ Entries
3 Adding a funnel
Select Add funnel to create a new funnel.
The Add Funnel window is used to define the funnel and the steps that make up the journey.
Required fields are marked with an asterisk.
Funnel name
Enter a name for the funnel.
Description
Enter an optional description explaining the journey or process the funnel is intended to track.
4 Configuring a funnel step
Each funnel is made up of one or more steps.
Each step contains the following settings.
Step name
Enter a name that identifies the step within the funnel.
Comparison
Select what should be evaluated to determine whether the user has reached the step.
Available comparison types are:
- URL – evaluates the page URL.
- Path – evaluates the path component of the URL.
- Search Query – evaluates the search query associated with the page.
- Page Title – evaluates the page title.
- Goal – uses a configured goal as the funnel step which is the basis of conversion rates under conversion & funnel.
The final step of the funnel should always be a goal, allowing the conversion rate to be calculated automatically.
5 Setting the step condition
The Condition determines how the selected comparison is matched against the pattern entered for the step.
Available conditions are:
- Equals – the value must exactly match the pattern.
- Contains – the value must contain the pattern.
- Starts with – the value must begin with the pattern.
- Ends with – the value must end with the pattern.
- Regexp – uses a text-matching pattern to evaluate the value.
Pattern
Enter the value that the selected comparison and condition should evaluate.
The value required depends on the comparison type selected for the step.
Required
Enable Required when the step must form part of the funnel journey.
6 Adding additional steps
Select Add step to add another step to the funnel.
Each additional step uses the same settings:
Step name → Comparison → Condition → Pattern → Required
Continue adding steps until the required funnel journey has been defined.
The order of the steps represents the order of the journey being analysed.
7 Saving the funnel
Select Add Funnel to save the configured funnel.
Select Cancel or close the window to exit without creating the funnel.
Once saved, the funnel appears in the Configured funnels table.
8 Editing or deleting a funnel
Use the controls under Actions to manage an existing funnel.
- Select the edit icon to update the funnel configuration.
- Select the delete icon to remove the funnel.
9 Exporting funnel data
