Manage goals

This article shows you how to view, create and manage conversion goals for a digital asset in Measure.

1 Manage goals

The Manage goals page is located under Goals & Funnels.

Goals define the actions that are recorded as conversions for the selected digital asset.

2 Viewing configured goals

The Configured goals section displays the goals currently set up for the selected asset.

The table displays:

• Goal name – the name assigned to the goal.
• Trigger type – the activity used to record the goal.
• Trigger value – the value used to determine when the goal is completed.
• Completions – the number of times the goal was completed.
• Conv. rate – the percentage of visits in which the goal was completed.
• Actions – controls used to edit or delete the goal.

3 Adding a goal

Select Add goal to create a new conversion goal.

The Add Goal window contains the settings used to define when the goal should be recorded.

Required fields are marked with an asterisk.

Goal name

Enter a name for the goal.

Description

Enter an optional description explaining what the goal measures.

Trigger type

Select the activity that will trigger the goal.

Available trigger types include:

• Visit a given URL
• Visit a given page title
• Download a file
• Click on a link to an external website
• Stay for a certain amount of time (minutes)

The selected trigger determines the visitor activity that will be used to record the conversion.

4 Setting the trigger condition

The fields displayed depend on the selected trigger type.

Match type

Where matching is required, select how the trigger value should be matched.

Available options are:

• Contains – records the goal when the tracked value contains the specified trigger value.
• Exact match – records the goal when the tracked value exactly matches the specified trigger value.
• Regexp – uses a text-matching pattern to match the trigger value.

Trigger value

Enter the value that will be used to determine when the goal is completed.

The type of value required depends on the selected trigger type.

5 Additional goal settings

Case sensitive

Enable Case sensitive when uppercase and lowercase characters must match the trigger value exactly.

Allow multiple conversions per visit

Enable Allow multiple conversions per visit when the same goal can be recorded more than once during a single visit.

Leave this disabled when the goal should only be counted once per visit.

6 Saving the goal

Select Add Goal to save the goal.

Select Cancel or close the window to exit without creating the goal.

Once created, the goal appears in the Configured goals table.

7 Editing or deleting a goal

Use the controls under Actions to manage an existing goal.

• Select the edit icon to update the goal configuration.
• Select the delete icon to remove the goal.

8 Exporting goal data

Select Export in the top-right corner.

The available export options are displayed in the Export menu.
