When creating an automation rule, you can automatically send a Welcome Message to contacts when the rule is triggered. This message is typically used to greet users when they first interact with your WhatsApp channel, such as after sending their first message or joining through a QR code. The platform supports two message types: Text, which allows free-form messages, and Template, which uses pre-approved WhatsApp templates created in Meta.
Send a Welcome Message
This action allows you to automatically send a WhatsApp message when the rule is triggered.
There are two message types available:
Text
Template
Option 1: Text
If you select Text, you can enter a free-form message.
Maximum length: 4096 characters
No template approval required
Option 2: Template
If you select Template, you can choose from WhatsApp templates that have been created and approved in Meta.
Select the approved template from the dropdown
If the template contains variables (e.g. {{1}}, {{2}}), you can map them accordingly
For example:
If {{1}} represents First Name, you can drag and assign the First Name variable so it dynamically pulls the contact’s first name.
You may also replace a variable with static text if needed. For example, instead of using {{1}}, you can manually enter fixed wording.
If the template includes buttons, these will also be displayed according to the approved template structure.
