This article shows you how to upload multiple contacts at once using the bulk upload feature. Instead of adding each contact manually, you can import a list from a file, saving time and ensuring your data is consistent.
Bulk uploads are typically used when you need to add a large group of contacts, such as event registrations, new leads, or a CRM migration.
1 Add Contact & Template
Log into the dashboard and click ENGAGE > Contacts
The Contact Content page displays.
- Hover your mouse pointer on the Add Button
Click the Add button. The Add Contact page area opens.
The Add Contact menu displays:
It will show a list of fields along with indicators showing which ones are required. This is to add a singular contact.
To add multiple contacts at once, click Download template for importing contacts. This will download an Excel file named contact-bulk-upload-template.xlsx to your computer.
2 Mandatory and Optional Fields in the Template
Open the excel file from your local downloads folder to begin entering your contact information.
When filling out the contact-bulk-upload-template, note the following rules for each field:
Contact ID: Used primarily for your internal reference. Is optional.
FirstName: Must be between 1 and 100 characters, with no special characters. Is mandatory.
LastName: If provided, must be between 1 and 100 characters, with no special characters. Is optional.
Email: Must be a valid email format. At least one of Email or Phone Number is required for each contact.
PhoneNumber: Must include the + sign followed by the country code (e.g., +61 for Australia). If the country code is missing, the system will automatically assign one based on the Locale. If a valid country code is included, the Locale field becomes optional.
Locale: Optional if a phone number includes a country code; otherwise required. Must be the full country name (e.g., Australia, India).
Source: Can be created directly in the template, it does not need to exist beforehand. Is mandatory.
Segment: Can be created directly in the template. Segments define the target audience for broadcasts (e.g., “August Intake”). Multiple segments can be added, separated by commas. Is optional.
OwnerEmail: Assign a specific user as the owner of the contact. The user’s email must have a Sinorbis account and be in a valid email format. This field is optional.
3 Uploading Template
Re-enter the Add Contact menu and click or drag the file to this area to bulk upload the contacts.
The Bulk Contacts Upload popup will appear. Click ‘Import (X) Contacts’ to upload all contacts from the Excel template.
